- 1927: Construction of the KRS Dam begins.
- Visionary Leader: Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Diwan (chief minister) of Mysore, played a key role. He envisioned beautifying the dam site and fostering public recreation.
- Inspiration: The design draws inspiration from the famous Mughal-era Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir. Sir Mirza Ismail's own love for horticulture also shaped the gardens.
- A Team Effort: The Department of Horticulture worked alongside the dam construction to bring the Brindavan Gardens to life.
- Completion: By 1932, the gardens were complete, ready to welcome visitors.
Naming and Significance:
- Brindavan Connection: The gardens were named after "Brindavan," the mythical abode of Lord Krishna. This reflects the emphasis on beauty and serenity.
